Visiting Cambrian Mountains

Gold, silver, lead and copper were mined from the rocks of the Cambrian Mountains in former centuries, and many of the relics of those days can still be seen.  The Llywernog Silver Lead Mining Museum and Caverns near Ponterwyd has many old machines, some of which have been restored to make a fascinating working museum.  You can try your hand at panning for gold and working the hand pumps, and visit the underground drift mine with its floodlit cavern.
